- The Carneddau – the largest continuous stretch of mountain land over 2,500 ft in the country with peaks including Yr Elen, Carnedd Llewelyn and Pen yr Ole Wen. Quieter than their valley cousins the Glyderau, these can match and even beat the grandeur of them with long sweeping ridges combing with small cwms invite you in for hours of exploration.
- The Glyderau (Glyders) – these contain five of the 3000ft Mountains, including Tryfan possibly the best direct interpration of what a child may draw when asked for a mountain. Containing a mixture of rough Northern faces and long sloping Southern faces this area of mountains can contain numerous adventures within one day.
- The Moelwyns offer an unspoilt area of the National Park which is away from the masses but still loves up to the splendour of the their larger siblings in the Glyderau and Carneddau. They also hold the Welsh Matterhorn with Cnicht always worth a visit to explore.
And of course, Snowdon or Yr Wfydda, the highest point in Snowdonia.
